Alamethicin is a channel-forming peptide antibiotic derived from Trichoderma viride, used in research on ion channel biophysics and antimicrobial mechanisms. It modulates microbial metabolism, inhibiting methanogenesis while promoting acetogenesis in bioelectrochemical studies. Alpha-Amanitin, also from Trichoderma viride, is a potent RNA polymerase II inhibitor extensively used in cell biology and toxicology research.
